Fifth Station of the Cross. The Via Dolorosa is a street in Old Jerusalem, believed to be the path that Jesus walked on the way to his crucifixition as he carried his own cross. Along the Via Dolorosa (Latin for Way of Suffering) are nine Stations of the Cross, with an additional five stations located in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Here, at the Fifth Station, Simon of Cyrene is believed to have taken Jesus' cross and carried it for him.
